Annamarie Valdivia is a seasoned trial attorney with over 17 years of experience practicing law in state, federal, and tribal courts across Arizona, Washington (currently inactive), and the Northern and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma. She is actively licensed to practice in both state and federal courts in Arizona. Throughout her career, Annamarie has represented thousands of clients in cases ranging from federal murder charges to annulments in family court. She possesses extensive experience working with defendants, victims, and witnesses in domestic violence disputes.
Annamarie has successfully argued cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Washington State Board of Governors, and the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency. Her deep commitment to guiding clients through challenging legal issues, whether in criminal law or family court, underscores her reputation as a dedicated and skilled advocate. Annamarie is known for her exceptional ability to navigate high-stakes cases, earning the trust of her clients both in and out of the courtroom.
She began her legal career in 2008 as an associate attorney with the Mexican Capital Legal Assistance Program, assisting Mexican nationals facing the death penalty. As a law student, Annamarie interned with the Arizona Capital Representation Project, conducting research for appellate briefs in death penalty cases. She also participated in the University of Arizona Civil Rights Restoration Clinic, aiding formerly incarcerated people in restoring their rights. In 2005, Annamarie earned her master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Arizona, where she was named a Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) fellow. She received numerous awards, scholarships, and fellowships for her academic excellence, including being named a Ronald E. McNair and Uranga Scholar at the University of Washington.
Annamarie’s personal experience in family court in Washington profoundly influenced her decision to pursue a legal career. She understands the critical importance of having a dedicated legal team when dealing with sensitive family matters. In November 2024, Annamarie joined Mulembo Law, PLLC, leaving government practice to focus on providing high-quality legal representation in Family Court. Annamarie currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Minority Bar Association and is a graduate of the State Bar of Arizona Bar Leadership Institute. Annamarie is fluent in both English and Spanish.
